The transfer portal has been a one way street for Florida football. Plenty of players have left the Florida Gators while almost no one has opted to make Gainesville their home.

A new transfer candidate has entered the portal. It would be an immediate boost along the Gators’ defensive line. Billy Napier better have him on the phone ASAP.

Florida Football: Where is the beef?

Cam’Ron Jackson was a three star prospect out of Louisiana that signed with the Memphis Tigers. In 2020, he was 6’5, 270 pounds, a bit undersized to play defensive tackle in the SEC.

Let’s just say Jackson has beefed up since then. He’s now credited with being 6’6, and now tips the scales at an eye-popping 340 pounds. Jackson now has the size to fit in a long any defensive line in the SEC.

Given the inability for Florida football to stop the run last season, Jackson would be an instant fit and need for the Gators.

He was credited with 41 total tackles this past season, 19 of them solo. Against Navy, a team that likes to run the ball lot as you might’ve heard, he was credited with eight tackles. Memphis shut down, Navy’s running attack and held the Midshipmen to just 13 points.

Jackson would pair very nicely with Desmond Watson along the defensive line, and with the departures of Brenton Cox and Gervon Dexter, Florida football needs to add depth along the line.

The Gators already picked up Caleb Banks from Louisville, but he an edge guy. If Billy Napier wants to flip some of the narrative heading into 2023, Jackson needs to be on speed dial with a plan to get him to Gainesville.

Step one might require the Gator Collective to cut what check is needed. But a Florida football wants to play with the big boys, it’s going to need to get some big boys.
