Florida Football: Meltdown in Miami

Ron Zook may have recruiting a number of the guys that would go on to win the 2006 national title, but his actual ability as a head coach was questionable at best.

In 2003, Florida football was humming along to a 33-10 lead over then 3rd ranked Miami. Ingle Martin was tearing up the Miami secondary, Keiwan Ratliff returned a fumble for a touchdown, and when Ran Carthon ran up the middle for four yards with seven minutes left in the 3rd quarter it seemed like the Gators could do no wrong.

Except they did all the wrong things over the next 22 minutes and Miami would go on to score 28 unanswered points to win 38-33.

Miami would finish 5th in the polls that season while Florida football went 8-5 and lost to Iowa in the Outback Bowl.

Keep up with Florida football at Hail Florida Hail.
