To try and turn the cold front going through the U.S. into something a little more interesting, we’re going to go back and look at the times that Florida football went “Ice Cold”.

As great as Florida football has been in the past, they’re not immune to bad moments. Whether it be bad losses or embarrassing flops, the Gators have had their fair share.

So without further ado, here are the times that Florida football went “Ice Cold”

Florida football: The shoe toss

This one is still fresh in everybody’s mind, and we may not get over it any time soon. The 2020 season, as weird of a year as it was, was one of the best years for Florida football in the past decade.

Kyle Trask lead an incredible offense, and we all got together to make fun of Todd Grantham every Saturday. What a time to be alive.

With an SEC Championship berth in hand and a chance at the College Football Playoff, the Gators were trying to fend off an upset by an LSU team that was having a terrible season.

With 1:51 left in the fourth quarter in a tie game, the Gators got a third down stop to get the ball back to an offense that hadn’t been stopped the entire second half. The game was over.

But Kole Taylor didn’t tie his shoe tight enough. After Marco Wilson and Ventrell Miller made the stop to force a 4th and 6, Marco saw Taylor’s shoe on the ground and thought “Now why isn’t this 20 yards down the field?”

The unsportsmanlike penalty kept LSU’s drive alive, and it ended with a Cade York field goal that would end the Gators’ playoff hopes.
