As early signing day approaches, Florida football is looking to snag some high-priority targets to ease the minds of Gator fans.

One guy they’re trending to land is 4-star tight end Jaden Platt, who is currently committed to Stanford.

Platt is ranked as the 4th best tight end in the class of 2023, and the 95th-best player in the nation per 247 Sports.

In the 2022 season, he had 23 catches for 296 yards and five touchdowns. This was a bit of a drop off in his production from the 2021 year, where he had 31 catches for 623 yards and five scores.

Platt also runs track, giving him an edge in mobility and athleticism over some of the other tight ends in his class. He ran a 25.62 200 M dash, and long jumped 18-4 as a junior.

Platt would be a great addition to the Gators’ recruiting class. Ever since Kyle Pitts left, the Gators have been struggling to find consistency at the tight end position.

Now, this isn’t to say that Platt will be the next Kyle Pitts, but at 6-4, 235, he already has good size coming in and can continue to develop into a great playmaker for Billy Napier’s offense.

If Platt does flip to the good guys before the early signing day, it could provide the Gators with some much-needed momentum heading into a pivotal week for recruiting.

With guys like Qua Russaw and Desmond Ricks making their decisions tomorrow, any momentum can help put the Gators into a good position to land one or both of those elite players.

Flipping Pratt and making a splash on signing day will also help to put some Gator fans at ease. After the embarrassing showing in the Las Vegas Bowl, there isn’t a lot of optimism around UF’s football program.

A great recruiting week can change that.

Keep up with Florida football at Hail Florida Hail.
