Florida football: Odds and predictions for Florida vs Florida State

It’s that time of year again folks. Thanksgiving is just a few days away and everyone is getting ready to stuff their faces. Florida football will be doing less eating than the rest of us, however, as they’re getting ready to take on FSU in the Sunshine State Showdown.

I don’t need to tell any of you this, but this rivalry means everything to these schools. They hate each other. I hate them. Everybody hates everybody.

Unlike last year, the Gators come into this matchup the underdogs, by a substantial margin at that. UF has struggled at times this year, while FSU has looked better than last year under Mike Norvell.

Let’s see what the opening lines are for this matchup.

Florida football: Odds vs Florida State

There isn’t a lot of respect for the Gators heading into this one. They open up as 9.5-point underdogs and are +265 on the money line.

This spread would likely be within a touchdown if the Gators weren’t coming off of a loss to Vanderbilt. I still get nauseous typing that out.

It’s also a big benefit for the Semis that they have home field advantage at night. The move to Friday night cleared all roadblocks for this game to be a nighttime kickoff, and Doak Campbell will be rocking.

Hard to blame FSU fans for wanting to come out really loud in their only chance to beat UF over the past few years. Little brother always gets up to try and take down big brother.

The over-under for this one is 57.5. I’ll be honest, I’ve given up trying to get a read on the total for Florida games. It’s always between 52-58, and I’ve only gotten 2 right all year. So I’ll still make a pick later in the week but I’d recommend fading it.

I don’t care what the situation is, I don’t care what the number is, and I don’t care if my future self came back in time and told me that FSU covered.

I will never pick against the Gators when they take on the Noles. I just won’t. So early reads before we get in-depth on it later in the week are UF +9.5, and the under 57.5.
