We’re a little under 48 hours away from Florida football kicking it off on the road against Vanderbilt. We’ve talked about how this could be a trap game for UF, and now let’s take a look at where the smart money is on this one.

Last week we went 1-1 on the USC jr game, hitting on the Gators to cover 8.5, but getting let down by the over.

This week, the over-under line is roughly the same at 57.5, and the Gators are 14.5-point favorites. What are the best bets for this SEC matchup?

Florida football: Best bets vs Vandy

To start it off, despite it being the largest SEC favorite for the Gators this year, I like UF at -14.5. The defensive turnaround is real, and the Gators’ run game is the best it’s been.

Trap game this trap game that, I think that Napier is going to have his guys ready to go close out SEC play strong. It is worth noting that Vandy has been known to give Florida some trouble early on in their games, especially up in Nashville.

Even if the Gators do get off to a sluggish start, their newfound ability to force turnovers and shut down inferior offenses will turn the tide and make this a big Gator win.

Earlier in the week, I predicted that the over-under, which was sitting at 57.5, would go down, and that it would be a good bet to get that number as high as possible.

Fast forward to today, and it hasn’t moved at all. Could that mean that I have the wrong read here? Absolutely. But I still feel confident riding the under in this one.

After these past two weeks, I’m totally bought into the Gator defense turning it around. Sure, Spencer Rattler isn’t any good, but that was complete domination for four quarters last weekend.

I don’t see a way that Vandy scores three touchdowns, even at home. That leaves around 35-40 points that the Gators can score without pushing us over.

The offense looks awesome, but I think with ane early start on the road, Florida will want to slow it done and control the tempo. Give me a 35-14 type game here and get me 2-0 this weekend.

Keep up with Florida football at Hail Florida Hail.
