Florida football got some great news late on Thursday night after most Gator fans were asleep. Recruiting was a bit of a sore subject after Cormani McClain went to Miami, but the Gators got their revenge.

4-star QB Jaden Rashada announced that he was flipping to UF from Miami late last night.

After a long recruitment over the summer where Rashada, a Gator lean at the time, chose Miami, this one feels good for UF fans.

Rashada, out of Pittsburg, California, is ranked as the 6th-best QB in the class of 2023, and the 17th-best player overall, per 247 Sports.

Chris Singletary of 247 Sports says that Rashada has “Good ball placement on passes where only the receiver is able to make the play. Plays with impressive anticipation on his throws where you can see that he is throwing his receivers open and out of harm’s way.”

He also has “mobility to avoid the rush and buy time to make plays under pressure.”

So what does Rashada’s commitment mean for the Gators?

This one means a little more than most commitments. After the Gator Guard was created last spring, there was lots of optimism about what Gator recruiting could turn into. But we were yet to see it in action until last night.

Getting Rashada to flip from Miami shows that UF is finally willing to open up the pocketbook on the recruiting trail. It also helps that Miami has looked abysmal on the football field this year, which has without a doubt impacted recruiting.

Within UF’s program, however, Rashada is a great addition to the QB room for after Anthony Richardson moves on. He’ll be by far the most talented guy in the room and will have a year or two behind Jalen Kitna and Jack Miller to learn the offense and get settled in.

Buckle up Gator fans, this won’t be the last splash that Napier and co make on the trail this year.

Keep up with Florida football at Hail Florida Hail.
