Florida basketball is getting ready for game two of the 2022-2023 season tonight against Kennesaw State. After a dominant win in the opener against Stony Brook, the Gators look to continue some early season dominance and get some momentum going.

In the first game of the year, we saw a Gator offense that looked entirely different than in years past. The ball was moving around a lot more, there was lots of off-the-ball motion, and everything looked more fluid.

UF looks to build on that great start earlier in the week tonight against the Owls.

Florida basketball: How to watch the Gators

Tip-off is at 7 pm EST and will be broadcast on SEC Network + and ESPN +, the same place as the opener. You can also get the game on Fubo TV with an account.

The Gators are still relegated to the “plus” networks this early in the year, but highlights are available just about everywhere once the game ends if you aren’t able to tune in.

Florida basketball: Things to know

The Gators will have their hands full with Chris Youngblood, a junior guard for the Owls. In their season opener against Lagrange College, he had 20 points and eight rebounds, on 80% shooting from the field, including 4-5 from three-point range. He also had three steals while only committing one turnover.

Granted, he put these numbers up against Lagrange, who doesn’t even have a logo on ESPN’s website. But 0% from the field will match up well regardless of your opponent.

The Gators’ length and speed on defense should limit Youngblood tonight. UF held Stony Brook to 6-28 from three-point range, which is a 21.4% clip. That level of perimeter defense will limit any shooter from deep.

Offensively, look for Kowacie Reeves to get a little more involved in the scoring. He only had eight points against Stony Brook, partly because he committed 4 fouls which lead to him missing out on some of his regular minutes.

I think he’ll shoot better tonight and have more chances, so expect Kowacie to turn some heads tonight.

Keep up with Florida basketball at Hail Florida Hail.
