Well, folks, it’s finally here. Florida basketball is entering the Todd Golden era tonight. After years and years of mediocrity under the last administration, Golden and his guys seem to be bringing new promise to the Gator hoops program.

Fortunately, even if there are a few bumps in the road to start the season with a new coach and new players, the Gators have plenty of time to straighten things out before SEC play begins.

That all starts tonight when the Stony Brook Seawolves come to town for Florida’s home opener.

Florida basketball: How to watch the Gators

The game tips at 8 pm eastern and will be broadcast on SEC Network + and ESPN +. You can also make an account and stream on Fubo TV.

Most of the games this season will either be on the standard SEC Network or on other ESPN networks, but the beginning of the season is relegated to the world of + networks.

As excited as we all are for the season to start, it isn’t the end of the world if you can’t watch this one live. The Gators figure to take care of business tonight and watching postgame highlights could give you a good sense of where the team is at.

Florida basketball: Things to know

First off, this is the first game with a new coaching staff and a lot of new players. If things look a little shaky at first, don’t freak out.

In a more optimistic sense, Golden is bringing a faster pace to the Gators, and with an inferior opponent, this game could be really fun to watch.

The Gators get back their big man Colin Castleton, who will be the leader of this year’s team and be the focal point of both the offense and the defense.

They also welcome in three new guards they picked up in the transfer portal: Trey Bonham, Kyle Lofton, and Will Richard.

We can’t forget about Kowacie Reeves. The sophomore started to show his true potential late last season and will blossom into a star this year.

One guy to keep an eye on is Riley Kugel, a true freshman playing in his first game tonight. He’s had lots of buzz around him all preseason, so don’t be surprised if he comes in and makes some noise tonight in his debut.

Keep up with Florida basketball at Hail Florida Hail.
