Florida football knew what was ahead of them going into their matchup against the #1 ranked UGA team. They would need AR to have a near-perfect game and for the defense to force multiple turnovers.

It didn’t go too well.

Whatever amount of optimism Gator fans had at the start of the game seemed to disappear after Rashad Torrence dropped an interception and AR came up limp after a low hit on the first play of the game.

And then Stetson Bennett threw a ball directly at Amari Burney, it got tipped around about 1,500 times, and UGA tight end Brock Bowers came up with it and scored.

Things just weren’t going the Gators’ way.

It’s hard to go into halftime with momentum when you allow the opposing QB to throw for 262 yards and 2 TDs, and your team had 89 total yards of offense.

But the Gators didn’t give up.

They came out of the locker room forcing turnovers, with Amari Burney stripping the ball loose and making a diving interception.

The offense also found their step, scoring 17 points including a beautiful pass from AR to Henderson up the right sideline.

But they had dug themselves too deep a hole, and UGA didn’t stay dormant for long.

After a big loss, some people choose to sulk and yell “fire everybody!” We aren’t going to do that.

Here are the positives. These guys didn’t give up. Nobody gave them a chance going into the game, and the first half was as one-sided as it gets. But they scored 17 unanswered points in the 3rd and made UGA fans a little uneasy, even if it was only for a few plays.

AR also played a great game once the second half rolled around. Turnover free ball with the exception of the jump ball on 4th and 11. Finishing with well over 200 yards in the air after an abysmal first half.

The defense also showed some heart despite allowing 42 points. That 3rd quarter was one of the best quarters of defense they played all year, and it kept the Gators competitive for that much longer.

Here’s the best news of all: We went 2/2 on our best bets. You’re welcome America.

Keep up with Florida football at Hail Florida Hail.
