It’s the bye week for the Florida Gators and it is safe to say that Florida football won’t be giving up any points this weekend. We think. But one theme that has developed for the Gators this year is the offense and defense haven’t both played a complete game at the same time.

The offense carried Florida against Utah, Tennessee, and LSU, but cost the Gators against Kentucky and tried to blow the game against Missouri.

Meanwhile, the defense won the game against Missouri while being the reason Florida lost against Tennessee and LSU.

We don’t talk about USF.

With that in mind, we here at Hail Florida Hail have opted to have the Gators’ offense and the Gators’ defense square off in a WWE Survivor Series style match to determine who is truly the weak link. If you are not familiar with Survivor Series rules, both squads will have five members in an elimination-style tag-team match. When one side has all five members eliminated, they lose.

Let’s first preview each squad.

Florida Football: Team Toney

  • Ventrell Miller (Captain) – Miller is the aging veteran who might not be the fastest or the strongest, but he knows every trick in the book and is a solid tactician to lead his team.
  • Trey Dean – Miller knows Dean is a bit of a liability in the ring, but he needed someone to bring the fire and be the mouthpiece for the team.
  • Desmond Watson – You can’t pin what you can’t get to the ground.
  • Kamari Wilson – Wilson is the hotshot newcomer that is looking for his chance to prove his worth. During promos from Dean, he can be seen in the background with a look of uneasiness because Dean has the spot that he wants.
  • Brenton Cox – The blue-chip, former champion that is Miller’s ace-in-the-hole and will be a problem for Team Offense.

Florida Football: Team Napier

  • Anthony Richardson (Captain) – After waiting in the wings, Richardson is trying his best to assemble a talented group. Injury concerns have halted his previous pushes.
  • Montrell Johnson – After coming over from a different promotion, Johnson has been as reliable of a worker as anyone and should be a champion soon.
  • Ricky Pearsall – Extremely high work rate. Not quite the pure ability of some others but will be a tough one to eliminate.
  • Trevor Etienne – Team Napier’s hotshot rookie. He’s dynamic, he’s quick, and he has all the tools to become a world champion himself.
  • Justin Shorter – Once tabbed to be the star, Shorter has been a reliable worker but never quite lived up to his billing as a future world champion.

With the teams set, and entrances made, it’s time to ring the bell and find out who reigns superior in Florida football.
