It’s that time of year again folks. Florida football is only a few days away from taking on LSU in The Swamp. It seems that regardless of each team’s record, these games are always close.

The game this weekend looks to be shaping up the same way. Both teams are 4-2, with a first-year head coach, and a year already full of ups and downs.

The good news for Florida is that this game is being played in Gainesville under the lights. That isn’t a game most teams walk in and win. (Shut up Kentucky)

With all this in mind, let’s see how the oddsmakers view this game.

Florida football: Odds vs LSU

The Gators are currently dubbed the favorite in this game, laying 2.5 points and a money line of -138.

LSU isn’t the underdog by a lot, with a price of +115 to win outright.

These numbers shouldn’t surprise anyone. Both teams are around the rebuilding stage and have had their fair share of struggles this season. LSU is coming off of a bad loss at home to Tennessee, and the Gators come off a win against Missouri that wasn’t the prettiest at times.

The over-under for this game is at 51.5, which is pretty much on par for all of the Gators’ games this year.

Overall these lines look pretty reasonable. There’s no reason to believe either team will blow out the other, and neither offense has looked super explosive to where this could be a shoot-out.

Florida football: Predictions vs LSU

If I ever go on record saying that Florida will lose to LSU, I don’t deserve the right to call myself a Gator fan anymore. The line being below a field goal makes me really interested in taking UF with the points, as the home-field advantage alone could swing a possession or two.

In terms of the O/U, my gut is telling me to go under. UT scored on LSU by throwing the ball deep. Florida can’t do that. And LSU’s offense hasn’t shown a lot that says “We can score 30 on the road.”

For now, the Gators to cover and the under seem like the smart plays. We’ll dive into the reasoning more later in the week, and we’ll see if the lines move anywhere.

Keep up with Florida football at Hail Florida Hail.
