Florida football: Anthony Richardson could be Kyle Pitts’ savior next year
By Will Thomas
Despite a couple of rocky weeks this season, lots of analysts still think that Florida football’s quarterback, Anthony Richardson, will head to the NFL Draft after this season.
Not only do people think that AR will be taken after this season, there are a few who think he’ll be one of the top picks in the draft.
Ryan Wilson, a draft analyst for CBS, has Richardson going 3rd overall to the Atlanta Falcons.
That pick’s accuracy is contingent on both AR declaring for the draft and ATL getting the third pick. But this would be a fun pick for a lot of reasons if it came to fruition.
Former Gator great, and one of the best collegiate tight ends of all time, Kyle Pitts is currently in Atlanta. And he is being grossly under-utilized.
Through four weeks Pitts has 10 catches on 22 targets, 150 yards, and no touchdowns. He’s in a bad Atlanta offense under a coach who won’t call plays for him for whatever reason.
Anthony Richardson could cut those chains and unleash Kyle’s potential.
Florida football: Two top 5 picks in the A
Let’s say this prediction is spot on. That would be the second time in three years that the Falcons took a Gator in the top 5 of the draft.
At that point, it’s just about impossible for them not to succeed together. A unicorn running routes and a freakazoid under center. Nothing is stopping them.
Although they never played together in college, the Gator connection would create chemistry between these two immediately. They were both on campus during the 2020 season where the Gators went 8-2 and were one drive away from an SEC title.
Richardson would also be an upgrade over the current Falcons QB room. Certainly over Marcus Mariota.
Pound for pound, Richardson is a better prospect than Desmond Ridder is. Ridder may have the edge in pure arm talent, but the playmaking ability of Richardson just sets him apart.
Florida football: It would just be really cool
Imagine waking up the morning after Jalen Kitna lead the Gators to a win over Kentucky, turning on the TV, and seeing Richardson and Pitts lighting it up in the pros as teammates before Aaron Judge cuts in and walks in four pitches.
It would be glorious.
Plus, we’d have two Gators leading the NFL team in the heart of UGA country. That’s something nice that they’d have to deal with.
Anthony Richardson can be the guy to free Kyle Pitts from the prison that is Atlanta Falcons football. And nobody deserves a good QB more than Kyle down.
Keep up with Florida football at Hail Florida Hail.
