Florida football: Grading Gators that had extra playing time against EWU
Named the co-starting safety alongside Wilson for Florida football this week, McMillon showcased good speed, good lateral speed, decent tackling, and solid physical play when given the chance.
So why does McMillon have a C – as his grade?
Because much like Trey Dean, McMillon never seemed fully sure where he was supposed to be or who he was supposed to cover.
Most notably on EWU’s first touchdown in the fourth quarter, the TD was on the opposite side of McMillon and the TD itself had nothing to do with him. But if you study the play closer, McMillon on the bottom side appears to have a coverage bust of his own that left a wide-open receiver running past him in the endzone.
It is possible that the CB with him, Jordan Young, was supposed to drop deeper and Florida football might have been in a cover-four look. But without access to the all-22 film, it’s hard to know for sure. Either way, McMillon was guarding grass on the play and it wasn’t the only play that happened.
