Florida football: September report cards for Gators offensive players
By Will Thomas
Through one month of the season, Florida football has already hit the highest of highs, and the lowest of lows. That’s at least what it feels like around the fanbase.
Anthony Richardson went from Heisman favorite to inaccurate bust in two weeks before his bounce-back game in Knoxville. The offense as a whole has had its ups and downs, but there is absolutely optimism around the program.
We already graded out the defensive players, so let’s now take a look at how the offensive side of the ball has played so far this season.
Florida football: Report cards for September
Anthony Richardson, despite his talent, was a big question mark coming into this season. He only had one start last season, and his arm accuracy was no guarantee.
In week one, he seemed to put an end to any doubt, with an incredible game against Utah.
The next two weeks though were much more underwhelming. Two bad INTs against Kentucky and a slow game against USF seemed to bring AR back down to earth.
But he bounced back incredibly well in Knoxville as he threw for 453 yards, two TD, and ran for 62 yards with two more touchdowns.
As good as the Utah and Tennessee games were, it’s hard to give AR an A so far just because of the inconsistency. If we can see Anthony regain his confidence and play well against the rest of the schedule, he’ll bump up to an A.
