As we look forward to week 5 of college football, we hope everyone down south stays safe from Hurricane Ian and gets to enjoy some Florida football.

The Gators are in some new territory this week, as they’ll face Eastern Washington on Sunday at noon due to the hurricane. Despite this being such a high-powered, marquee matchup, there aren’t many sportsbooks with odds for this game.

After some digging, I found that Vegas Insider has both a spread and a total for this Sunday’s matchup.

So without further ado, let’s take a look at how the oddsmakers are seeing this contest.

Florida football: Odds for week 5

The Gators are unsurprisingly the heavy favorites in this one, favored -30 over EWU. This isn’t very surprising as the Eagles lost to Oregon 70-14 in week 2, and fell to Montana St by a field goal in their most recent game.

One bet that I found a bit surprising was the over/under. It’s currently set at 73. Obviously, this may change, but that seems really, really high. We’ll get into why during the prediction segment and our best bets piece later in the week.

Florida shouldn’t be challenged too much this weekend. They don’t even have a money line. EWU is +2500, but there’s no price to take UF to win outright.

This may come as a shocker to some readers, but I like Florida here.

In all seriousness, I do think they’ll take care of business. To be fair, this is an eerily similar situation to two weeks ago. Coming off a tough loss to a top ten SEC team, with a cupcake at home.

But for as bad as USF is, EWU might be worse. I do think that Florida will cover, but if you’re looking for an early bet on this game, I would put your mortgage on the under.

With a noon kickoff, guys will still be sipping their coffee when they step out on the field. Yes, Florida will score a lot, but a ground attack likely means they don’t break 60.

And is EWU really going to put up two touchdowns?

UF covers, under 73. Book it.

Keep up with Florida football at Hail Florida Hail.
