One-third of the season has already flown by us for the 2022 edition of Florida football and there are some clear trends that have emerged up and down the roster. The defensive unit had a pretty solid game against Kentucky, a good first half against Utah, and managed to put their pads on correctly against USF and Tennessee.

We won’t be going through every single player, but we will be handing out grades to many of the key players who have done some good and some bad. We will be factoring how the defensive scheme, overall experience, and overall impact on the field.

Florida football: Report cards for September

D. . . . TREY DEAN

I promise we aren’t starting out with Trey Dean to pick on him. We are going in numerical order and he just happens to be the first man up.

Now Mr. Dean, if you happen to be reading this, you’re on-field play isn’t the sole reason your report card has come back as a D. Dean leads the Gators with 36 total tackles (19 solo tackles and 17 assisted) and has had to clean up a lot of backend mess created by the linebackers for the Gators.

The problem is the silly things that a senior shouldn’t be doing. We touched on yesterday the flexing routine that happened in the USF game and everyone is well aware of what happened against Tennessee on the 70-yard coverage bust.

Don’t get it twisted, there is room for passion in this game. Just don’t bark if you can’t bite.
