Florida football: Florida vs Tennessee odds and predictions week 4
By Will Thomas
After a close win against USF, Florida football has a tough test in front of them this weekend, as they make the trip up to Knoxville to play the Tennessee Vols.
This is the first road game the Gators will play this season, and it’s a bit of a rude awakening to the travel scene for them. A sold out Neyland, College Gameday being there, and the 3:30 slot on CBS.
This is a huge game.
It’s also a little reminiscent of the Gators’ opener against Utah. Lots of national attention, huge implications, Gators as the underdogs.
Let’s take a look at the odds as of now for this contest, as well as make a few predictions.
All odds via FanDuel, odds and lines are subject to change.
Florida football vs Tennessee odds week 4
It’s not too often you see a double-digit favorite in this rivalry, but the media is very high on the Vols for this game. Tennessee is 10.5 point favorites, and -114 to cover 10.5.
As the underdog, the Gators’ money line is +320, a much higher price than the +114 they were against Utah.
Obviously, this game being in Neyland is a huge difference maker. With all the optimism around Tennessee, the 3:30 kickoff, and the energy that the UF-UT rivalry brings, the Vol fans will be out in full force.
The over/under for his game is at 62.5. This is the highest over/under of any UF game this year by 9 points.
Florida football vs Tennessee predictions week 4.
As much as it pains me to say, this is a really tough matchup for the Gators. The Florida defense has not looked great, and Tennessee’s offense is explosive. On the other side of the ball, AR’s shaken confidence will not get any better when he walks into Neyland on Saturday.
We’ll go more in-depth with our predictions later in the week, but I definitely like the over. Tennessee will score a lot, and UF will be forced to put up a few scores if they want to keep up.
In terms of the spread and money line, it feels a little too ambitious to say that UF is a good bet at +320. However, as a UF site, I can’t get away with fully fading the Gators. So I’ll say that UF +10.5 is a good bet to place.
These games are always close unless it’s Florida blowing Tennessee out. With all the hype and expectations and Knoxville, the Vols might take a bite of the rat poison and come out slow. Look for the Gators to keep it close.
Keep up with Florida football at Hail Florida Hail.
