Florida football: Gerry Bohanon becomes a runner

Gerry Bohanon transferred to USF from Baylor in the offseason. He had respectable numbers at Baylor, 2,200 yards passing with 18 touchdowns. And while he had nine rushing touchdowns he isn’t considered a run-first QB.

Utah demonstrated though that read-option plays with Brenton Cox as the man to read can work against Florida. Cox played a much better game against Kentucky than he did Utah, as against Utah he was so eager to be Superman that the Utes used his aggressiveness against him.

USF probably won’t have great success running up the middle despite that being their preference. If they can get Cox to bite on the running back, Bohanon might have a pathway to keep the ball and pick up some first downs around the outside.

If USF does it enough and Florida doesn’t adjust, USF might score some points.
