Derek Wingo

Another former four-star, top 100 overall prospect, Derek Wingo is looking for his chance to shine in 2022.

Wingo has seen the field 22 times already but is hoping for a more prominent role.

Gator fans had a taste of what Wingo could do in the Gasparilla Bowl. It was Wingo’s first start for Florida and he finished with five solo tackles. He wasn’t afraid to get his nose dirty and had some solid pursuits of the ball. When greeted the UCF running backs in the hole he held his ground.

He also looked like a guy who simply needs more reps as he felt a step slow to react to plays and general alignment was off at times.

With time, Wingo can still be the top tier recruit Florida brought him to Gainesville to be.
