Florida football: Looking at the safety group for 2022

Another young guy that Gator fans should be excited about is Donovan McMillon out of Pennsylvania.

The sophomore safety saw limited action last year, but has great upside and good size, at 6’1”-205.

Last season he was able to rack up 10 tackles, but that was all he could get in the 5 games he saw action in.

McMillon is an all around defensive player. He’s very physical and aggressive, and isn’t afraid to lay out a ball carrier. He also has great ball skills, and is able to make plays around the field.

He is a run support safety first however, so don’t look for Toney to put him on an island against deep threat receivers too often.

Expect Donovan to be a depth piece again this year for the Gators. He’ll likely get reps in every game, but isn’t quite ready to take on a starting role.
