Florida football: Gators land 4 star DL Kamran James
By Will Thomas
The Florida Gators are starting to really re-establish themselves as prominent recruiters in the country, as they continue to fill out their class with great talent.
Today, they landed 4 star d-lineman Kamran James. They beat out Georgia, Alabama, Auburn, and Arkansas for his services.
James comes out of Orlando, FL, and played his high school ball at Olympia High School.
247 Sports has Kamran ranked as the 28th best DL in the class of 2023, and the 188th best player in the country. He joins an already deep D-line class with TJ Searcy, Isaiah Nixon, Kelby Collins, and Gavin Hill.
James plays both football and basketball for Olympia, but has decided he has a brighter future between the hashes.
Andrew Ivins of 247 said that Kamran, “…can win more times than not by simply being a better athlete than the person lined up across from him.” He also “Bends relatively well for someone that’s over 6-foot-6 and does a nice job of chewing up turf as he works his way into the backfield.”
In his most recent year on the field, James totaled 47 tackles, 21 of which were behind the line of scrimmage, and 13 sacks. He did all of this in Florida’s highest classification for football.
So how does James fit in with the Gators?
While he won’t be on campus to be with them in person just yet, James has plenty to learn from Gervon Dexter and the other D-lineman in Gainesville.
When he finally gets to UF, guys like Desmond Watson and Jaelin Humphries will be there to mentor him and give him time to develop. Not to mention the strength and conditioning boosts that Mark Hocke will give him, which is something that Ivins said he could afford to add.
James has sky high potential. He’s strong, big, and flexible. If he’s able to master his craft and work hard enough to reach his ceiling, the whole country will know his name in a few years.
Keep up with the Florida Gators here.
