Florida football: Gators land commitment from 4 star DL Will Norman
By Will Thomas
Florida football is really starting to prove that they can control recruiting in the state of Florida and get the guys that they want. That includes grabbing players from IMG Academy.
Today, they landed 4 star DL Will Norman.
The Gators beat out Tennessee, Jackson State, and Texas A&M for Norman.
247 Sports has Norman ranked as the 21st best d-lineman in his class, and the 143rd best player in the class of 2023.
Norman already has great size going into his senior year, and at 6’5”-290, he’ll be a dominant force at IMG yet again.
His strength is undeniable, and there aren’t a lot of guys who can move offensive lineman against their will the way that Norman can.
With how big he is, you wouldn’t expect him to be a crafty guy who can wiggle through the offensive line. But you’ll never guess what I’m about to tell you.
He can.
Norman is able to use his arm strength to get an o-lineman’s hands off of him, and his athleticism to spin by and get into the backfield. He is a versatile guy who can use multiple tools to rush the passer and disrupt the run game, and could be impossible to game plan for if he continues to develop.
So how does Norman fit in with the Gators?
Like any freshman, he probably won’t see much playing time when he gets to campus next year. Instead of being on the field, he’ll be working with strength coach Mark Hocke and DL coach Sean Spencer on perfecting his craft and becoming the best player he can be.
There aren’t many coaches more qualified to work with a guy like Norman than those 2.
Will can also learn under guys like Jaelin Humphries and Desmond Watson, who will likely be UF’s feature defensive tackles when he arrives.
Keep up with Florida football here.
