Although they missed out on Cedric Baxter Jr., the Gators still got some great news on Wednesday night.

4 star LB Jaden Robinson announced that he was flipping from South Carolina to come play in Gainesville for Billy Napier.

247 Sports had Robinson ranked as the 32nd best linebacker in the class of 2023, and the 379th best player in the country.

At a little over 6′ and 215 pounds, Williams still has a bit of room to add to his frame during his senior year, and when he gets to Gainesville.

While he still does have some room to get stronger, he already loves to hit. Looking at his film, he features plenty of plays where he can knock a ball carrier flat on his back, and he does a great job of knocking the ball loose as a receiver goes for a catch.

Not only does he hit pass catchers well, he also does a solid job on coverage. He is able to go step for step with most of the receivers he faces,

He splits his snaps between playing at safety and OLB, so he has the tools to succeed at either position. That said, he’ll likely play in the box when he gets to Gainesville.

He has good instincts when it comes to picking up runners out of the backfield, and is able to navigate through blockers to get into the backfield quickly.

So how does Robinson fit in with the Gators?

He’ll be a good depth piece for his first few years before eventually taking over later in his career. He’ll have guys like Diwun Black and David Reese to learn under, as well as co-defensive coordinator Sean Spencer helping to show him the ropes and get him used to college ball.

Robinson is a great add to the Gators’ defensive class, and it always feels good to flip a commit from a rival SEC school.

Keep up with Florida football here.
