Brandon Sproat doesn’t sign contract with Mets

Brandon Sproat was drafted in the 3rd round by the New York Mets in the 2022 MLB draft. After failing to reach a deal with New York, Sproat will return to Gainesville for one more season.

Sproat went 9-4 last season with a 3.41 ERA. He pitched 89 innings, striking out 82 batters while walking only 33.

His fastball that can reach 99 MPH caught the eye of the MLB. He also features a slider that can reach 90 MPH.

This is second time he has been drafted but did not sign. He was drafted in 2019 by the Texas Rangers.

Dan Mullen has offer from ESPN

Since being let go as head football coach of the Florida Gators last November, Dan Mullen has kept a relatively low profile.

Mullen was never seriously linked to any coaching job and people wondered where Mullen might wind up in 2022.

Yesterday word broke that Mullen has been in discussions with ESPN to work as an analyst for the upcoming season.

Mullen worked with ESPN during the national title game in January and the move would allow Mullen to stay in the spotlight while he contemplates his next coaching move.

Florida formally offers scholarships

By rule, teams are not allowed to offer scholarships for rising high school seniors until August 1.

This set off a fury of Twitter activity with countless recruits sharing their formal offers.

This also led to confusion within some pockets of Gators’ Twitter when Dijon Johnson tweeted out his offer.

Johnson had previously committed to Ohio State but announced last week he was re-opening his recruitment.

Many believe Johnson is going to flip and commit with Florida.

But Johnson’s tweet today wasn’t a commitment or even a good indication of what he intends to do.

It was simply a formality as Johnson also tweeted out offers from Alabama, Miami, and FSU.
