The Florida Gators are going nuclear on the recruiting trail right now, as they’ve landed three commitments in the last three days.

Today, 4 star safety Jordan Castell announced his commitment to the Gators.

UF beat out the likes of Alabama, Auburn, and Arkansas for his services.

247 Sports has Castell ranked as the 13th best safety in his class, and the 202nd best player overall.

Andrew Ivins of 247 Sports has already talked about how he believes Castell has the ability to be a starter at the Power 5 level, and contribute for multiple years.

He has great size at 6’2”-200, and per Ivins, “understands how to put himself in position to make a play on the ball.”

He’ll also be key in run support from up high, as he, “Isn’t one that’s afraid to make an open field tackle…has gotten better and better in run support over the years.”

So how does Jordan fit in with the Gators?

I like to think of Castell as a Trey Dean type of player. Castell as of now is 6’2”-195, and Dean, who is about to be a senior, is 6’3”-207. Dean is one of the hardest hitters on Florida’s team, so just imagine what Castell will be able to do to opposing ball carriers after a year or two in UF’s conditioning program.

Jordan also has some experience playing at corner in high school, so he could end up there. If that’s the case, he’ll relish being able to learn under Jason Marshall Jr. and Jaydon Hill.

Wherever he ends up in the secondary, Corey Raymond will play a big part in his development, which is always an appealing factor.

With the time he has to develop under the current starters, Castell will continue to get better and better before the spotlight is on him.

Keep up with the Florida Gators here.
