For all the criticism that the Florida Gators coaching staff received after not landing a few top prospects, they’re making everyone who doubted them eat their words now.

The latest member of the Gators 2023 recruiting class is 4 star WR Aidan Mizell.

Mizell chose the Gators over Alabama and Tennessee.

247 Sports has Mizell ranked as the 18th best receiver in his class, and the 115th ranked player nationally.

Andrew Ivins had some praise for Mizell while he was evaluating him. Ivins said that he is “One of the fastest wide receivers in the class of 2023” and is “agile enough to create separation as he works his way up the field.”

Ivins said that Mizell’s most promising attribute may be his ability to catch the ball without breaking stride. While it sounds simple, this isn’t something that many wideouts can do consistently. This ability makes Mizell a lethal threat on the outside, and he “could probable make a living just running go routes one day”.

As elite as he is downfield, Aidan is also a great playmaker, and is able to weave through a defense with ease. He’s great on bubble screens, and is always able to create space when it looks like the play is dead.

So how does Mizell fit in with the Gators?

As a deep threat, not only can he become the go to guy for UF when they want to take a deep shot, but he can create space for the entire offense. The defense is forced to respect the long game that Mizell brings, spreading out the defense and giving other guys on the field more room to work with.

Mizell’s speed is something that Gators fans will love watching. He ran track in high school, and was the top ranked runner in the 400M in class 4A (the largest in Florida) and 5th across the whole state, with a time of 46.99.

The commitment of Mizell proves that there is nothing to worry about on the recruiting trail. Every school misses out on some of their targets. But you better believe that this staff is going to get it done when it matters.

Keep up with the Florida Gators here.
