The Florida Gators haven’t won the SEC title in football in over a decade. The Gators are no where near the favorites to win the title in 2022. Which is why one should take a gamble and bet on Florida to win the SEC.

Gamble on Florida

Initial odds have Florida at +5000 to win the SEC title in 2022.

For the non-gamblers, bet $100 and win $5,000 if Florida pulls through.

The Gators haven’t won the SEC in football since 2008.

Florida was picked 4th in the SEC east in the preseason media poll.

On the surface it may appear that Florida has zero chance and that’s $100 down the drain.

But………

The Anthony Richardson effect

By the end of last season, Florida was a straight up dumpster fire.

And yet it was a dumpster fire that was arguably three plays away from going 9-3 in the regular season.

Florida lost to Alabama off a missed extra point.

Florida lost to Kentucky off a blocked field goal returned for a touchdown.

Florida lost to Missouri after the Tigers went for two in overtime.

Throw in Florida still beating Tennessee with Emory Jones at QB and still beating FSU despite not having a coaching staff at that point, and Florida might not be as far off as +5000 indicates.

If one believes that Napier’s staff is an upgrade from Mullen, and one believes that Richardson gives the Gators a significantly better chance to win that Jones, it’s not hard to see Florida flipping the results of Kentucky, Missouri, South Carolina, and LSU from last season.

Georgia on my mind

If one does make the gamble and bets on Florida, the inevitable follow up question will be “So you think they will beat Georgia?”

Truthfully, probably not.

”Wait, then why bet on Florida?”

Because it’s +5000 and this is where the value bet comes in.

Georgia had a historical great defense last season that could see all 11 starters wind up in the NFL.

Only three of those starters are back this season.

Seven starters are back for Georgia’s offense, but their offense was carried by the defense last year.

Remember when Florida and Georgia faced off, it was still 3-0 with two minutes to go in the first half before Florida imploded on offense to make it 24-0.

If one believes Georgia’s defense is going to take a step back, and that Florida has even a 1 in 4 chance against the Bulldogs, picking the Gators to win the SEC at 50 to 1 is a worthwhile gamble.

It’s not about making on bet on something you believe will for sure happen. It’s about getting a big payoff on something you believe isn’t completely impossible from happening.

Because even if you think Florida would still have zero chance in the SEC title game itself, one could cash out the bet prior to the title game for a lower payout, but still make a profit.

Keep up with all things Florida Gators with Hail Florida Hail.
