Billy Napier and crew received some great news Thursday afternoon when 4-star quarterback Marcus Stokes announced on Twitter his was flipping his previous commitment from Penn State to the University of Florida Gators.

Then 30 minutes later 4-star running back Treyaun Webb out of Trinity Christian Academy in Jacksonville announced his commitment to the Gators.

Marcus Stokes

Stokes hails from Ponte Vedra Beach and attends Nease High School, the same school Gator legend Tim Tebow played for.

Stokes is listed at 6-2, 185 pounds and is ranked the 22nd best quarterback in the nation by 247 Sports. He is the 175th ranked overall prospect in the nation.

Stokes is a former Elite 11 participant.

According to Andrew Ivins of 247 Sports:

"Stokes shouldn’t exactly be viewed as a true dual-threat talent, but is a crafty runner that’s more than capable of finding success and moving the chains on designed runs. Thrives as a passer when he’s on the move and will squeeze the ball into tight windows as he escapes pressure."

Stokes flips

Stokes took an unofficial visit to Florida in March, but he committed to Penn State in April after an unofficial visit to State College, PA.

Stokes would take his official visit to Penn State on June 10, and then attended a camp in Gainesville on June 22.

On June 26, QB Jaden Rashada opted to commit to the University of Miami after it had appeared he was going to choose the Florida Gators.

This left Napier’s 2023 class without a QB commit.

Whether or not this opening influenced Stokes wanting to stay close to home is unclear at the moment.

Treyaun Webb

About 30 minutes after the Stokes announcement, 4-star running back Treyaun Webb posted on Twitter that he too was coming to Gainesville.

Webb is listed at 6-1, 205 pounds and is the 5th ranked running back in the nation and 169th ranked prospect overall.

Webb had been predicted to commit to Penn State himself. 247 Sports had him at 71% likelihood to take his services to State College.

Webb is regarded for having a quick burst and an effective stiff arm.

Stokes and Webb give Florida 11 commits in the 2023 class, eight of which are 4-star prospects.

The Gators moved up 13 spots on the 247 Sports recruiting list and are now ranked 26th.

Florida is tied for 7th nationally for the most 4-star prospects in the class of 2023.

If Marcus Stokes and Treyaun Webb go on to form the next great QB/RB combo in Gainesville, the 30 minute span around 4PM on July 7, 2022 will be a day to remember.

Keep up with all things Florida Gators with Hail Florida Hail.
