First Quarter Florida Gators vs Rebels

Florida starts with the ball and goes nowhere. Grier is sacked on third down and the Gators go three-and-out.

Shoutout to Johnny Townsend booting a 57-yard punt, followed by Ole Miss losing another six yards.

Ole Miss returns the favor and their first possession and also go nowhere. Jarrad Davis has a sack on second down and Ole Miss punts it back.

Grier makes his iconic 36 yard touchdown pass on the second possession, but Demarcus Robinson saves the drive the play before.

Robinson is dead in the water on a third and four screen. He broke a tackle to extend the drive.

One play later Grier puts the Gators on top.

Grier is throwing off his back foot as Ole Miss is crashing into him. He catches the single high safety going the wrong way and Robinson hauls in the 36-yard pass for the touchdown.

I do wonder if in real time Grier knew the safety was going the wrong way. The safety takes an awful angle towards Robinson and vacates the middle of the field.

This play could have ended in an interception with better safety play, but the good guys benefit and are up 7-0.

Ole Miss is behind but still have reason to be confident.

Second play of their second drive they botch a handoff and Bryan Cox recovered it for Florida.

Kelvin Taylor had some punishing runs and it allows Florida to utilize a simple play action two yards from the end zone to find a wide open Jake McGee.

13-0 good guys. The extra point was missed. Not everything could be perfect on this night.

Third time is the charm and Ole Miss gets a first down on their third drive.

Good for them.

Then they snapped the ball over Chad Kelly’s head and that ended that drive.
