UF’s All 2000s Team
By Will Thomas
When people think of the Florida Gators, one of the first things that comes to their mind is the Gators’ history of fielding elite football teams. While their 3 National Championships (’96, ’06, ’08) doesn’t stack up with other great football schools, the players that have put on the Orange and Blue have left their mark on the college football landscape.
The Gators have had 3 Heisman winners in their history, all of whom were quarterbacks. Tim Tebow won the award in 2007, Danny Wuerffel took it home in 1996, and the great Steve Spurrier was the first Gator to hoist the Heisman trophy back in 1966.
UF also has a great presence in the NFL. Kyle Pitts is already the best pass catcher for the Atlanta Falcons, and has quickly become one of the best tight ends in the league. Joe Haden has consistently been a great corner, and hasn’t fallen off as he’s gotten older. Van Jefferson just won a Super Bowl with the Los Angeles Rams.
It’s always nice to go back and relive some of the better days of Florida Gators football, especially following a losing season. Just looking at some of these names from the past 20+ years takes you back to some of their greatest plays and best accomplishments.
With all of this being said, I’m happy to present to all of you my All 2000s Team for Florida Gators football.
