Stop me if you’ve heard this before: The University of Florida just won the Outdoor Track and Field National Championship. Yesterday it was the men’s, and tonight the women get their turn to hoist the trophy, their first time in program history.

Anna Hall Goes Crazy

The most impressive individual performance of the day for UF was Anna Hall, winning the heptathlon with 6385 points, and getting 2nd in the 400 M hurdles with a time of 54.76.

Sterling Lester also finished 5th place in the heptathlon, with a personal record of 5751 points.

400 M Hurdles Are a Success

The 400 M hurdles was a big point grab for the Gators. Anna Hall, like stated before, got 2nd place with a time of 54.76, and Vanessa Watson landed in 7th place with a time of 56.83.

Triple Jump Scores Well

The Triple Jump was yet another event where the Gators had multiple scorers. Jasmine Moore won the event with a best leap of 14.32 meters.

Natricia Hooper was also able to score for the Gators as she finished in 6th place with a best jump of 13.44 meters.

A Personal Best in the 400 M

Talitha Diggs decided that today would be her day, and scored 10 points for UF in the 400 meter race. She ran her personal best time of 49.99 to win the event.

Perhaps the sweetest thing about these title wins for both the men and women was that they weren’t the favorites. On March 28th, the Outdoor Track and Field National Poll ranked the Gators’ Men’s team at 11th, and the Women’s team at 5th.

The Gators track and field account kept receipts.

While track and field isn’t the most widely covered college sport, word should spread fast that Gators track won two championships in two days.

That’s just what an everything school like UF does.

Keep up with all things Gators here.
