Tim Tebow Makes CFB Hall of Fame Ballot
By Will Thomas
On Monday, the College Football Hall of Fame released their 2023 Ballot, and former Gator great Tim Tebow was on that list.
Other notable names on this year’s list are Reggie Bush, Peter Warrick, Eric Weddle, and plenty others who have been on it before.
This ballot appearance is well deserved for Tebow. He was on 2 national championship teams, was the first sophomore to win the Heisman Trophy, two time Maxwell Award Winner, three time SEC offensive player of the year, and set tons of school records during his career.
Tebow had plenty of iconic moments in the orange and blue, and did plenty to deserve his statue outside of the Ben Hill Griffin Stadium. From being covered in garnet paint in Tallahassee to his jump pass against LSU, Tebow defined what it meant to be a Gator.
During his career in Gainesville, Tebow threw for 9,285 yards and 88 touchdowns, with season highs of 3,286 yards and 32 TDs, both during his sophomore season.
He also ran for 2,947 yards and 57 touchdowns, with season highs of 910 yards and 23 touchdowns.
While Tebow didn’t have a very successful NFL career, he did have an all-time moment in the playoffs as a member of the Denver Broncos, when he hooked up with Demaryius Thomas in OT to beat the Steelers.
Ever since Tim left Gainesville, the Gators have been in search of their next great quarterback. The closest UF has been to a championship QB since he left was Kyle Trask in 2020, but no matter who comes next in The Swamp, there will probably never be another Tim Tebow to put on the orange and blue.
This is a well deserved spot on the Hall of Fame ballot, and sooner rather than later he’ll earn his spot in the Hall of Fame.
Keep up with all things Gators here.
