Sometimes tough love is the best love. Former Gator basketball player and current member of the Washington Wizards Bradley Beal tried to get that point across in a now viral video to his AAU team he coaches.

"F*** your stats"

Beal was agitated with his squad as they failed to close out a game that he felt they should have won. Beal would make the point to his team that filling up your stat line with points is great, but there are other factors that lead to winning basketball games.

"How you going to tell me your the best PG in the country but you can’t f******* close out the game"

Reaction on Twitter has been mostly mixed as one might expect. Some applauded him for the approach saying he is trying to point out the very flaws the AAU circuit fosters.

Others have pointed out that Beal himself puts up impressive stat lines while not winning games.

Perhaps the best retort to any criticism towards Beal trying to coach up an AAU squad was “Beal is in the NBA while you taking selfies in your car”

Beal is a three time NBA All-Star that has been with Washington since being selected third overall in the 2012 NBA Draft.

Prior, Beal played his one season of college basketball for the Florida Gators during the 2011-2012 season. He averaged 16 points a game that season and helped lead Florida to the Elite Eight.

"How many guys in college are averaging 20 points a game? None!"

So when Beal speaks about having success despite not averaging 20 points a game, he does have experience to speak from that he hopes to eventually translate to his squad.
