After suffering a torn biceps tendon early last season, Gators linebacker Ventrell Miller will be making his return to the field this fall.
Miller, a redshirt senior out of Lakeland, Florida, will be the most experienced guy in Florida’s linebacker room. He’s already established himself as an elite defender in the box, and has hit power that will make ball carriers watch for him on every play.

At 6’1”-226, Miller is no easy task for a running back to handle. He’ll give the Gator defense a strong anchor in the middle of the field to help stifle the running game. Not only that, but he’s also an elite pass rusher.
He’s very quick and has good speed on blitz plays. As if it won’t be hard enough for opposing quarterbacks to focus with guys like Gervon Dexter and Brenton Cox Jr. coming at them, adding Miller to the mix is a QB’s worst nightmare.

Miller had the most productive season of his career in 2020, where he totaled 86 tackles and 3.5 sacks, along with a fumble recovery. Putting up those numbers in a shortened season against an SEC offense every week is incredibly impressive. Now imagine what he’ll be able to do in 12 games in 2022.
Ventrell will be a key part in revamping a Gator defense that has struggled overall in Florida’s past 2 seasons. His leadership and experience are game changers on their own, and his talent between the numbers will open the eyes of those who forgot what he’s capable of.
It’s also worth noting that Miller can, and will beat anyone he faces in a game of corn hole, which adds to his already impressive list of talents.

The experience and leadership that Miller gives the Gator defense is incredibly valuable, and getting him back for one final season will transform the way that the unit plays on the field.
Keep up with Florida football here.
