On Monday, the Gators picked up a commitment from 3 star offensive tackle Bryce Lovett. Lovett’s commitment bumps the Gators’ class up to #30 nationally per 247 Sports.

Lovett, out of Rockledge, Florida, chose the Gators over Missouri, Iowa State, and Louisville. He also held offers from Arkansas, Kentucky, and Boston College, among others. He’s ranked as the 61st best OT in his class, and the #726 player in the whole country.

He has plenty of size, at 6’5”-330, and won’t be outmuscled by many people. He also participates in the throwing events for track and field, which have helped improve his upper body strength.

Lovett is the first offensive lineman that Napier and co. have landed in the class of 2023, and the 5th player they have overall.

Once he gets to Gainesville, Lovett will have lots of good mentors to help develop his game and turn him into a great player. He’ll likely have a year or two to learn behind guys like Josh Braun, Richard Gouraige, and Ethan White.

He’ll also be coached up by two on-field O-line coaches in Rob Sale and Darnell Stapleton, who’s combined football and coaching experience will put Lovett, along with his fellow linemen, in a great position to develop into great players.

This pick up continues a bit of a hot streak that Billy Napier and the Gators have been on recently. A bit over a week ago, DL Knijeah Harris and WR Creed Whittemore announced that they would be coming to Gainesville to play their college ball.

Now with Lovett on board, UF can direct their attention to some of their higher profile targets, like Cormani McClain, Malik Bryant, and Francis Mauigoa.

UF is just getting started on the recruiting trail, and they’re looking to make some noise in this cycle.
