The Gators have landed their second commitment of the afternoon, this time in 4 star wide receiver Creed Whittemore.

Creed, brother of current Gator WR Trent Whittemore, was ranked as the 20th best athlete in his class on 247 Sports.

Whittemore will be playing wideout in Gainesville, but he also played QB some during his high school career at F. W. Buchholz.

At 5’11”, 175, Whittemore has decent size, but likely won’t be able to go over the top of defenders one on one. This won’t be a problem, however, given Creed’s natural athleticism and quickness.

Andrew Ivins, a recruiting analyst for 247 sports, wrote about Creed’s “…ability to change directions and make people miss in the open field” and how he can “…always find holes/creases in a defense [to] navigate his way out of trouble.”

Whittemore doesn’t just shine on the football field. He also competed in track and field events and played basketball at the prep level. He won a district title in the 100 meter dash as a junior, posting a time of 10.85 seconds.

Whittemore’s natural athleticism is something that can’t be overlooked, which is the biggest reason that coach Billy Napier and his staff decided to make him a priority target. Creed held offers from the likes of Miami, Texas A&M, and Michigan when he committed to the orange and blue.

While he likely won’t get too many in game reps his freshman year, Creed will still have a positive impact on the team. Having a guy as quick and versatile as he is in practice can be a valuable tool for the defense, as they get to have practice reps against someone who’s hard to tackle.

Whittemore will probably play more than just WR at times during his career in Gainesville, as he can play just about anywhere, and his arm may be used in some trick plays the same way we saw former coach Dan Mullen use Kadarius Toney.

Keep up with Florida football here.
