Position to watch #2: Defensive tackle depth

TRENCHES!

We’ve heard it all before, It all starts in the trenches, especially in the middle of the defensive line. Gervon Dexter is the lone name that’s stood out from spring practices. The question we all want to know is who is capable behind him? With a room filled with young talent, we really haven’t had a chance to watch that talent flourish.

Desmond Watson, Jalen Lee, and Christopher Thomas are all potential ‘breakout’ players to watch out for in this game at DT. Sophomore Desmond Watson (appeared in all 13 games) and Junior Jalen Lee (13 games, 1 start) are the only ones that really have meaningful experience behind Dexter so it will be interesting to see how things have progressed. Regardless, you can expect Napier to be very aggressive when it comes to defensive tackle.

It will be key for Florida to develop rotational pieces at the DT position so they can keep bringing in fresh bodies throughout the course of a game. For that reason alone, I am very interested to see who will step up and be a key contributor.

Keep an eye out for the three mentioned above as I am tabbing them as key contributors for the 2022 season.
