Florida football option #1: Deion Smith – LSU – Rising sophomore

The first receiver on my list of potential candidates is Deion Smith, who entered the transfer portal on December 8th of 2021.  Smith is a rising sophomore who committed to LSU last offseason, however, he has decided to enter the transfer portal and play elsewhere for 2022.  Smith is most notable for his catch against Central Michigan, where he would rise up and over DB Donte Kent and “Moss” him for a touchdown, which was amazing to witness.

Deion did not get much of a chance at LSU in 2021, which is likely his reason for transferring.  At only 11 receptions on the season, he clearly was not utilized much, however, he made the most of it with 186 receiving yards (16.9 per reception) and 2 touchdowns.  He was ranked the #9 WR in his class by 247Sports composite grade, which gave him a 4 star and 0.9691 grade.  His game is the vertical passing attack as he has good acceleration and speed for his stature (6’1″ 172) and wins in many contested catches at the peak of routes.  Overall, Smith would be a solid addition to Florida football.
