Team #2: Pittsburgh Steelers – Pick 20

Report:

The next team on our list is the Pittsburgh Steelers, who are also in trouble at the cornerback position this offseason.  Pittsburgh will be seeing 3 of their 8 rostered cornerbacks hitting free agency, those being:

  • Joe Haden (CB1)
  • Ahkello Witherspoon (LCB3)
  • Arthur Maulet (RCB3)

Haden is obviously the most notable, as he is the Steelers’ starting cornerback and has been for the last 5 seasons.  However, if Pittsburgh could retain Haden for a few more seasons (he is 32 nearly 33 now) this could be a prime moment for Gators fans and Steelers fans alike.  As many of you will know, Haden formerly was a Florida Gator, and a premier one at that, so pairing him with the youth of Kaiir Elam from the same school would be a really interesting development.  Also, out of the 3 teams on this list, Pittsburgh has the highest first-round pick, so hypothetically they have the best shot at Elam if the interviews go well.
