Florida Football: 2023 #1 recruit adds Gators to list of consideration
2023 #1 recruit Arch Manning adds Florida Gators to teams he will consider
The top recruit of the 2023 class, 5-star quarterback Arch Manning has decided to add two more teams to his consideration, one of which being Florida football. The next in a line of historically great quarterbacks, Arch Manning has seemed to be an elite prospect as well and has performed up to expectations so far to that of his other relatives Eli Manning, Peyton Manning, and Archie Manning.
News has now broken from 247Sports that his father Cooper had denied reports that Arch was down to 2 teams that he was considering, and rather the opposite, that he would be adding two more to the list. These two teams he added were LSU and the Florida Gators, which follows the theme of the previous teams also being primarily in the SEC. As of right now, 247 states that Arch has visited with four teams where he would return to see a game afterward as well, those four being Alabama, Georgia, Ole Miss, and Texas. With the Florida Gators also attempting to recruit the #3 player in the 2023 class in cornerback Cormani McClain, this could make for an exceptional offseason in 2023 for Billy Napier and Florida football.
As of right now, Arch is expected to meet with the Florida football program later this year, according to 247Sports reporter Steve Wiltfong.
Arch Manning 2021-2022 & Career Stats
As of this moment, Arch Manning has a 0.9999 247Sports composite ranking, and a 98 on their score system. He is the #1 ranked prospect and QB nationally and has an insane amount of hype around him due to both his family ties and high-quality play so far. In the 2021-2022 season, he had the following statline:
- 7 games played (all on the varsity team)
- 115 completions on 186 attempts (61.8%)
- 1371 passing yards (11.9 average & 195.9 yards per game)
- 17 passing touchdowns to 4 interceptions and a 105.8 QBR
Then, in terms of his total stats, he has the following over his 3 seasons:
- 27 games played (still all on the varsity team)
- 455 completions on 702 attempts (64.8%)
- 5731 passing yards (12.6 average & 212.3 yards per game)
- 72 passing touchdowns to 18 interceptions and a 113.6 QBR
- 83 carries for 671 rushing yards and 17 additional touchdowns
Overall, it is extremely clear that Arch Manning is a can’t-miss prospect in 2023, and whatever chance Florida has to go get him, they need to take. Being able to recruit Arch alone would transform this team, as any recruit who sees Arch go to Florida would be likely to follow if they are not another quarterback. After losing some big-name recruits this offseason such as Harold Perkins, Florida can make up for that and much more if they can convince Arch to make his way to The Swamp and play for Florida football.
