Florida football makes an offer to 2023 offensive tackle prospect

Florida football had an unofficial meeting with offensive tackle prospect Bryce Lovett, a 3-star tackle from Rockledge, Florida, yesterday 1/29/22.  Lovett has received a large amount of division 1 offers so far, 9 to be exact (according to 247 Sports), however, Florida is the only school in which he has attended a school camp as of yet.  While 247 Sports lists him at IOL, he has spent his high school career at right tackle, starting for the Rockledge Raiders who went 8-2 this past season.

Bryce would be a welcome addition to a Florida football squad that is currently lacking along the offensive line and could use some more depth at the very least, as they have a large number of recruits from the 2021 and 2022 classes at OL.  While Lovett is still a year away from his graduation, his offers received from so many different D1 teams are promising, as well as his game, as he is a very solid offensive lineman so far in his high school career.  In this article, we will be breaking down Lovett, as well as how we got here and what his recruitment could mean for Florida.

Current Offers List

As previously mentioned, Bryce has received a total of 9 Division 1 offers and has received interest from all around the nation.  While Florida is the latest of these offers, it is not wise to count out the other teams remaining on this list.  These teams include:

  • Kentucky Wildcats (12/22/20)
  • Arkansas Razorbacks (05/04/21)
  • West Virginia Mountaineers (05/19/21)
  • Missouri Tigers (06/02/21)
  • USF Bulls (06/03/21)
  • Coastal Carolina Chanticleers (11/30/21)
  • Iowa State Cyclones (12/13/21)
  • UCF Knights (01/28/22)
  • Florida Gators (01/29/22)

Bryce also met with the Florida Gators at their camps in June of 2021, on the 25th.  Florida is the only team listed so far that has had him come to their camps, which is promising news in terms of recruiting him.

Recruitment to Florida Gators & what his addition could mean

Bryce Lovett is an intriguing prospect to say the least, at 6’4″ 320 odds are that he will play IOL at the next level.  While he plays very solid outside at right tackle, with a build such as the one he has the likely move would be inside to right guard.  With Gators 4-star senior guard T.J. Moore transferring recently, they will likely be looking towards the future to fill out their roster at the guard spot.  The Gators currently have 2 four-star guards in their freshman class, as well as two commits coming from the 2022 class, so they are relatively full at the position currently.  This bodes well for Lovett playing tackle at least short-term if he is to get minutes later in his career, as the guard position is pretty locked up for a year or two at minimum.

Lovett was recruited by Gators new OC Rob Sale as well as Assistant Offensive Line Coach Darnell Stapleton.  The fact that he was able to meet with the new OC on top of being recruited just after the hiring of Sale means that the odds are Sale likes him as a prospect.  With Billy Napier having an overhaul of both the staff and additions to recruiting for 2022 and 2023, offensive coordinator Rob Sale seems to be doing the same with this offer.
