Florida football prospect #3: Dameon Pierce

Finally, we have one of the two Gators running backs who declared for this draft, in Dameon Pierce.  The 3 year back for Florida football has been solid for the Gators in his career, while not exceptionally productive, he has done all he can with the touches he has been given.  Pierce is another player who could really prove his worth at the Senior Bowl, as he would be able to show he can run the ball effectively with the touches he gets, as they obiously rotate players throughout the game to give everyone a chance.  At 5’10” and 215 pounds, he has the size to be an effective back at the next level with good durability.

Pierce has had a relatively tame career at Florida, which shows in his stats, as he has had to essentially split touches with Malik Davis during his tenure.  However across all four seasons he has been impressive, accruing the following stats:

  • 48 games played in 4 seasons
  • 329 rushing attempts for 1806 yards (5.5 YPC) and 23 touchdowns and 0 fumbles
  • 45 receptions for 422 yards (9.4 YPR) and 3 touchdowns

Overall, Pierce should be a prime candidate to breakout in the 2022 Senior Bowl, and could certainly improve his draft stock drastically with a few big runs throughout the game.
