Reason #2: Quality starter in college

There is a reason Kyle Trask was drafted in the second round at pick 64 by Tampa Bay, they saw his potential.  His college success was pretty impressive to say the least, as every year in college he brought his team to a bowl game, 2/3 of which he won.  He only improved each year he played, in every single way possible it seems.  To compare his stats from season to season, we see the following:

  • 2018: 3 games played, 14/22 (63.6%), 162 passing yards, 1 passing touchdown, 0 interceptions 140.5 passer efficiency rating
  • 2019: 12 games played, 237/354 (66.9%), 2941 passing yards, 25 passing touchdowns, 7 interceptions, 156.1 passer efficiency rating
  • 2020: 12 games played, 301/437 (68.9%), 4283 passing yards, 43 passing touchdowns, 8 interceptions,  180.0 passer efficiency rating

With this all in mind, his success in college could translate well to the NFL level with the right training.  Bruce Arians as a head coach for him could be interesting, due to his propensity to have a high flying risk it all offense, which has shown time and time again to inflate interception numbers along with nearly all stats.  Trask will take time to get used to this level, but once he does he could be a very good starter for Tampa.
