Florida Football: Kyle Trask’s time is now in Tampa Bay
Reason #1: 1 year of Florida football already
The first reason it would be wise for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to start Kyle Trask next year is he already has a year in their system. While he did not play a large amount this season, taking snaps only in the preseason, he has sat behind the greatest player of all time in Tom Brady for a season, and has had a chance to learn how an NFL style offense runs. Very few quarterbacks get the opportunity to learn from Brady, and there are only a handful who got the chance to start after that, as no one thought he would ever retire.
The only example now is Jimmy Garoppolo, as he spent 3 seasons in New England learning from Tom Brady before being traded away to San Francisco. Since then, Garoppolo has made the Super Bowl already, and while they lost that game, he is only one game away from the big show again this season. Is that purely due to Jimmy? No. He is not necessarily the QB you win because of, but rather the QB you can win with. With that said, he is an effective quarterback and gets the job done. So, with Kyle Trask likely learning the same things to a lesser level (due to less time spent on the bench), he should be able to be at the very least an effective starting quarterback. And with the weapons Tampa has at receiver, tight end, and nearly everywhere else, he should be supported well by the team.
