Florida football endured a wild few hours on Thursday night, centered around one recruit. While Florida originally was expecting to have six 2022 recruits on hand in Gainesville this weekend it appears that number has dropped by at least one.

Jordan James was schedule to visit Florida football on Friday

Jordan James – 4-star running back- was expected to be in the Swamp on an official visit starting Friday. James has been committed to Georgia since March of 2021, but visited Oregon last week and was making one final stop in Florida before signing day.

James even announced his top-three schools that he would be selecting from come February 2nd. He took to Twitter to make the announcement of the final three.

Without a visit to Florida yet, nobody could be sure how serious James was considering being a Gator. Having the last visit can have advantages. It would have given the Florida football program the ability to put that doubt in Jordan’s mind about heading to Athens to be a Bulldog. However, it seems the Oregon Ducks have already beaten Billy Napier to that punch.

Suddenly, sometime Thursday evening James’ weekend trip to Gainesville was canceled. 247 Recruiting no longer showed that James was one of the official visitors for the Florida football program this weekend. At this time there are currently no statements out on why James would no longer be making the trip out to Florida.

All signs are pointing towards Georgia losing a commit, that commit won’t be heading to Florida though. 247 Recruiting this evening switched their projection of where James would sign, from Georgia to Oregon. It appears that the Ducks made the most of their official visit with Jordan and he is no longer interested in Florida. Strange timing since his top-three schools was announced mere hours before with the Gators making that list.

Florida will just be a hat on the table come next Wednesday when James makes his signing official. Does Georgia still have a shot? Maybe. But, you can pretty much count Florida football out of this one.
