Coming in at number two is Jacoby Matthews. Billy Napier is making a huge late push for this top safety. Napier landed a 5-star safety – Kamari Wilson- on early signing day and he’s looking to add a 4-star safety before all is said and done.

Matthews is rated a 4-star prospect, but he is ranked as 2nd overall safety in the 2022 class. Being able to land both of these players would certainly put Florida football back into that “DBU” argument in the next couple of years.
Unfortunately, the Gators are competing against some recruiting juggernauts for Matthews. LSU and Texas A&M are projected to be the two front runners for the high-profile safety. Jacoby did visit the Swamp last weekend and it seemed to be a pretty successful visit for Napier and his crew.
To say No. 1 safety Jacoby Mathews relished his official visit to #UF might be an understatement.

"It left me with no questions to be asked."
On Tuesday, Billy Napier is expected to visit Mathews, who had an "amazing" time in Gainesville.
