The Florida Gators return home after a discouraging loss to Alabama over the weekend. It won’t get much easier for the 9-5 Gators as they host the 14-1 LSU Tigers. Florida enters the game having lost five of their last eight, while LSU has scored back-to-back wins over ranked SEC rivals.

This is a huge game for Gators head coach Mike White. A loss here could spell the end of his time in Gainesville. Florida heads into Wednesday’s tilt at 0-2 in SEC play. LSU is 2-1 in conference play, their lone loss to Auburn, who also defeated Florida in the Gators conference opener.

It will certainly be a tough test for the Gators’ as LSU has allowed an average of 56.4 points per game. Florida has a solid defense as well, allowing 63.4 points a game, inflated by their last 2 losses in which they gave up an average of 84 points.

Florida Gators vs. LSU Prediction Wednesday

Florida is really sliding since their hot start to the season where they won their first 6 contests. The biggest concern is their ability to get the job done in close contests. The Gators were tight with both Alabama and Auburn, but saw both of those games slip away from them. Florida has just two victories this year where the game was decided by 10 points or less.

LSU is bringing more talent into this game than Florida is, it’s as simple as that. They’ve proven themselves and their 14-1 record is their to back that up. The most points they allowed in a single game all season was 70 in their one loss to Auburn. They’ve won their close games and most importantly they’ve proven to be consistent on offense and defense this season.

Colin Castleton is going to have to have his best game of the year for Florida to have a shot in this one. The Gators being favored in this one is honestly a shocker. We’re taking the “underdogs” in this one LSU +2.5 and they should win this game outright. We’ll also take the under in this one as I can’t see an offensive shootout tonight.

Final score

LSU 68

Florida 64
