Zachary Carter – Florida football DL

Projection: Early Round 3 – Early Round 4

Third and finally on the list, we have Zachary Carter, a versatile defensive lineman for the Florida football program.  Another player who broke out this season, and showed his prowess both statistically and via the eye test.  Carter plays both 3 and 5 tech, primarily the latter however lining up at defensive end outside or in front of the tackles.  In 2021 he ended with 11.5 tackles for loss, 7.5 sacks, 31 total tackles, 2 passes deflected, and a forced fumble, all of which were above or at career highs aside from total tackles.

In terms of his skills, he is exceptionally talented both against the run and the pass and breaks both down just as well.  At 6’4″ 284, he has very good length, also having strong driving arms/hands which he uses relatively often in bull rush maneuvres.  He plays with very low pad level and can get into the chest and under tackles to either drive them back or get around them quickly.  Overall he has the ability to play inside or outside and has the skills to translate well to the next level if given proper training.
