Ohio State 12-0 Vs Florida 12-1 (BCS National Championship)

It wasn’t a fantastic game to be remembered forever by outsiders, but it was great game played by the Florida Gators. They blew the doors off Ohio State after an early mishap. It was never really in doubt the second half which way this one was going to play out.

Gator fans will remember the sinking feeling when Ted Ginn ran the opening kickoff back to give Ohio State the early lead. Most “experts” coming in gave the Gators no shot at winning this game. The Buckeyes had the 2006 Heisman Trophy winner in Troy Smith, surely Florida stood no chance. For a few minutes it looked like a nightmare scenario for Gator Nation. Dallas Baker caught another huge touchdown pass from Chris Leak to tie the game up and settle things down for the Gators. It was all Florida after that and the Gators raced out to a 34-14 lead at halftime, including a touchdown pass from Tim Tebow to Andre Caldwell.

The Buckeyes didn’t have much fight in them for the second half. The Gators kept Ohio State off the board and added a Tim Tebow touchdown to complete the absolute blowout 41-14. A truly shocking result, the Gators had their highest point total of the year versus power-5 schools in the national championship game. Urban Meyer earned his first national championship, and the Gators earned their second. A truly remarkable run that you really couldn’t see coming. What a ride. What a team.
